The Burnside Refugees: T2 Does Elvis

My drummer, Abner and I got together again for a jam recently; he’d recently bought a new African drum and I’d recently bought a new Gibson SG… We had a lot of fun; it’s a ‘bit rough round the edges’ but I think it may have potential…

I can’t actually post music here ’cause I’ve not paid for all the bells and whistles… However, my mate Emmjay over at the Pigs Arms can post music, so I’ve uploaded a recording of a slightly truncated version as a sort of ‘taster’. If people like it maybe I’ll post a few more… it was quite a marathon jam and there are a lot more where this one came from…

Leave a comment and let me know what you think! Here’s the link:

  1. It sounds crook. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Yeah, it was a bit crook… ‘Elvis’ really isn’t ‘my thing’…

I’m improving at learning how to record. Must say I had a lot of fun at your local folk club on Thursday night, Sandshoe, and am looking forward to doing it again next week.

  2. Hey, Asty, thanks for the link.

Didn’t realise you had your own personal, on-line treasure trove!

    Look forward to exploring.

    • Be my guest Big M… It’s not the Pigs’ Arms but it’s ‘home’…

Special features include a prose version of Virgil’s Aeneid, which tells the story of Dido and Aeneas after the fall of Troy. (Sighs) I miss atomou; he used to enjoy this tale so much! Without his encouragement I’m finding it a struggle to continue with this as it was something he requested specially. But I like to finish what I start, so although it’s something of a mountainous task, I’ll try to post an episode per week.

And of course, Hell’s Hospital usually appears first here and then at the Pigs… And Cyrus is here in its entirety in whole chapters (it was a bit of a pain having to chop up the chapters as I did at the Pigs).

Anyway, most of my scribblings have been posted here; so welcome to Astyages’s Weblog; make yourself at home; I look forward to reading your comments and questions.

    • Thanks for the warm welcome. I managed to track down Hung’s Blog, too. It’s all interesting reading, so I’ll take my time.

I must admit, I’m a bit of an ignoramus, having attended high school in NSW, in the 70s when they tried to avoid actually teaching anything. That’s my excuse. I recently bought the Odyssey and the Iliad, but they won’t jump into my brain by osmosis!

Anyway, thanks again, and I look forward to more reading!
